The Merrick is a must for many, it’s the highest summit in our Biosphere and gives views north to the highlands, west to Ireland, south to the Lake District and east across the full breadth of the Southern Uplands.
ViewThe Southern Upland Way
The Southern Upland Way is a challenging long distance route 214 miles long that links the east coast of Scotland with the west coast. With almost 86.5 miles going through our Biosphere its no easy under taking but is a great way for experienced walkers to go ‘off grid’ and experience the reality of lowland Scotland.
ViewThe Whithorn Way
The Whithorn Way is a 149 mile pilgrims route from Whithorn in the south of the Biosphere heading up our western edges to Paisley in Glasgow. It celebrates St Ninian who was the favoured saint at the Royal House of Stuart.
ViewThe Ayrshire Coastal Path
The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs from Glenapp to Skelmorlie along one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles that is largely the western edge of our UNESCO Biosphere. With a backdrop of Ailsa Craig and the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde, this coastline is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife.
