SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation – Colmonell Community Toilets
These public toilets are a community asset within the Biosphere Community of Colmonell. After being closed for several years, Colmonell Community Association managed to purchase the toilets for a nominal fee from South Ayrshire Council and set about restoring them with help from a series of grants. These toilets allow the community to host events whilst the dignity and wellbeing of guests is assured. In this local context, Colmonell’s public toilets show how a community initiative can align with global Sustainable Development Goals.
