SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – Gatehouse of Fleet Community Council

The Biosphere community of Gatehouse of Fleet meets the Sustainable Development Goal of Peace, Justice and Social Institutions through its Community Council, which operates as a local governing body, encouraging community engagement and supporting local people’s involvement in decision-making. Through regular council meetings, residents are given a platform to voice concerns and contribute ideas. This localised level of governance helps build a community where people feel involved and valued in decisions that affect their community. Through this approach, it is possible to build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
