SDG 15 – Life on Land – Kilsture Forest Community Group
In 2018 Kilsture Forest Community Group campaigned to save the forest from sale and entered a partnership with Forestry and Land Scotland to manage the woodland. Through this initiative, volunteers are involved in hands on woodland management, improving access to the forest and promoting biodiversity through protection and creation of habitats. Wildlife sightings are recorded so that progress can be measured over time, and local people have access to a space that promotes education and connection to nature. Kilsture Forest Community Group shows how the Sustainable Development Goals can be achieved locally through discussion, action, and collaboration.
