Freelance opportunity with the D&G Climate Hub

The D&G Climate Hub is pleased to share an exciting opportunity to join our team!
We are looking for an experienced practitioner to deliver a focused programme of climate engagement across Dumfries & Galloway for the D&G Climate Hub. This position is being offered as a 6-month contract suitable for a freelance/self-employed individual, and we are inviting tenders now.
In this consultancy role you will be working alongside the D&G Climate Hub team and reporting to the Senior Officer. The Climate Hub is active across Dumfries & Galloway (not just the UNESCO Biosphere region) and is part of a national network of local hubs through which Scottish Government is funding and resourcing community-led action on climate change.
Requirements:
- To support the development and delivery of the D&G Climate Action Hub as part of Scottish Government’s national network of Climate Hubs;
- To work alongside the Climate Hub team to deliver and evaluate a series of climate engagements across D&G;
- To support increased visibility and profile of the D&G Climate Hub.
This role would support the core Climate Hub team (3 officers) by completing a suite of defined deliverables from the 2025-26 action plan. Timescale for delivery is September 2025-Feb 2026. Delivery is expected to be spread out evenly over this time period and spread across the wider geography of D&G. The contractor will be required to communicate regularly with Climate Hub officers, including attending a monthly team meeting.
The closing date for submission of tenders is 5pm on Friday 8th August 2025 with the tender awarded Monday 18th August 2025.
Tenders should be submitted by e-mail to: Jenna Cains, Communities & Business Manager: jenna@gsabiosphere.org.uk / 07436 030223. (Queries can be dealt with via email or telephone but please note Jenna will be unavailable between 21st July-4th August 2025.)
