Auchinleck Estate Bioblitz

Take part in the Auchinleck Estate Bioblitz and seek out the hidden natural treasures of this historic site. Wildlife watchers are invited by East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative to converge on Auchinleck Etate on Saturday 18th July to find, identify, and learn about as many local plant and animal species as possible – all in one day. Starting at 10.00am the ‘base camp’ will be next to Boswell’s Coach House Cafe (KA18 2NY) where there will be plenty of wildlife for all to discover and activities to enjoy!

Wildlife experts will be showing you what they have found; from amazing moths to fungi and ancient trees to beetles. They will also provide advice on identification or where to look for wildlife so that you have an enjoyable time for seasoned recorders or beginners, young or old. Recording the wildlife found at Bioblitz events helps scientists understand more about nature in Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere and the impact of climate change. East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Trust are proud supporters of the Biosphere and have recently signed the Biosphere Charter.
