Claymoddie Garden was designed, landscaped and planted by the late owner and plantsman, Robin Nicholson, over a period of 50 years. This famous Wigtownshire garden has been described as “the most romantic in these parts”, and extends to 5 acres of mixed planting, sloping lawns, hidden walled areas, broad walkways, a large pond and burn, and shady woodland walks. Encouraged by the proximity of the Gulf Stream, Robin planted a vast range of Southern hemisphere and coastal plants alongside old favourites, with the result that there is interest at all times of year.
Our nursery, Galloway Plants, is located adjacent to Claymoddie Garden. All our plants are propagated from the Garden with very few exceptions. We have as wide a range in particular a good collection of hydrangeas and camellias, also several southern hemisphere trees and shrubs, all of which thrive in the Garden.
